Visiting Nurse is a nonprofit palliative, hospice and grief support serving 11 counties in counties in Northeast Indiana. Visiting Nurse has served the healthcare needs of the residents of northeast Indiana since 1888. As a community-based, non-profit agency, the Visiting Nurse team pours our hearts into caring for the seriously ill and their families. Our holistic approach to caring for the terminally ill means that each patient receives the best care possible. At Visiting Nurse, we care both for the patient and the family, with supportive services and bereavement counseling at The Peggy F. Murphy Community Grief Center, located on the Visiting Nurse campus, available at no charge to those who go on living. Hospice care is a special approach to caring for people with a life-limiting illness. Our goal is to foster the optimal quality of life through medical, spiritual and emotional support. Hospice care treats the patient, not the disease.
We are pleased to announce that as of March 1, 2020, Family LifeCare has been acquired by Visiting Nurse. This partnership allows for the same great teams, providing the same great care, to align under Visiting Nurse to serve 11 counties in Northeast Indiana including Adams, Allen, Blackford, DeKalb, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Noble, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.
The combined nonprofit organization provides home health care, palliative medicine consultations, hospice and grief support services. Thousands of patients and families will be supported by the compassionate care provided by physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides and volunteers of the combined organization. Patients, families and healthcare partners currently served by both organizations will be reassured to know that the same level of quality care will continue to be delivered by staff members who reside in their communities.
