2006 Annual Golf Outing

Chamber Golf Outing a Success
“ Appreciation to All”

Chamber Golf Outing Enjoyed

"A Success Because of Member Support"

The annual Decatur Chamber Golf Outing fundraiser was held in near perfect weather on Friday, June 9. With 32 teams registered for the annual Florida Scramble event, many low scores were posted as the rounds were completed.

Taking 1 st place for the 8 th year in a row was the Fleming Excavating team. They turned the 18 holes at Cross Creek with a very low score of 49 (23 under par). Members of the team were Greg Fleming, Kraig Hart, Bob Goulet and Drew Phegley. The second place team was Sharpe Finishes with another low score of 51.

Members of the Chamber Golf Committee commented on how grateful they were for the number of team sponsors and other sponsoring opportunities that were a part of this year's golf event. The committee was co-chaired by Chamber Board member Jack Moore (Embarq) and Chamber Vice-President for Industry, Charlie Walters (Bunge). Also, serving on the committee were Mike Ripley (ACEDC), Carl Stevens (Ameriprise Financial), Tim Sutton (Bank of Geneva) and Bob Heyerly (Aqua Blast).

Committee Co-Chair Charlie Walters said during the awards dinner - "We are grateful for all the many sponsors, players and volunteers who supported this outing. This was a success because of member support. We too want to commend the Cross Creek staff for the professionalism and hospitality they extended to the Chamber and our guests."

Larry Macklin, Chamber Director, said, "The support from our members and the business community we received for our annual golf fundraiser was simply overwhelming. The Chamber has been a recipient of that continued support for now 58 years and we are grateful for that."

Macklin continued, "The Chamber staff is also grateful to the many volunteers who gave of their time to help. Our success for the 2006 golf event is also attributed to those volunteers, the members of the committee and the folks at the Cross Creek Golf Club."
