79th Chamber Annual Dinner Announced for Janauary
Chamber To Present Business Awards
The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner held on Thursday
January 21st at the Grey Goose Golf Club. For information or reservations call

Each year the Decatur Chamber of Commerce presents two awards to area businesses
that have demonstrated consistent success, displayed good corporate citizenry
and whose leadership is actively involved in the community. This years
recipients are:
Large Business Award
Decatur Daily Democrat:
The paper that is today the Decatur Daily Democrat was first published on
February 13, 1857 as the Decatur Eagle. The Eagle was published as a weekly
paper. In 1874 the name was changed to the Decatur Democrat.
In 1903 the paper launched a daily version of the Democrat. Enough rural routes
had been established to make a daily feasible so the first issue of the Decatur
Daily Democrat appeared on January 12, 1903. The weekly paper was discontinued
in 1913.
Throughout the years the Decatur Daily Democrat has continued to be a source of
local news and community events. The Democrat has also been involved in the
activities of the city. The staff is also deeply involved in civic activities.
Small Business Award
Kintz Insurance
Kintz Insurance Agency has been serving the life insurance and health insurance
needs of businesses and individuals since 1966. The Life & Health agency started
in Decatur in 1983. Property & Casualty were added in 1995 with addition of John
P. Kintz. Investments were added in 1998 with addition of Dan Kintz.
The members of the firm, John A Kintz, John P. Kintz, Dan M Kintz and Jeff
McIntosh, have a long history of involvement in the community.
John A. Kintz is a recipient of the Stephen Decatur Award and the agency is a
member of the National Association of Health Underwriters. Members of the agency
have a strong sense on civic duty and pride in our community.
The Chamber congratulates the Decatur Daily Democrat and Kintz Insurance on
receiving the 2009 Business Awards.
